The painting studio
The mark of Métatrou on each work of Pierre de Colines.

About the Metatrou author

In its time, Richard de Fournival said: "Memory has two doors: Sight and hearing. And to each of these two doors a pathway leads, namely Depiction & Description." A Metatrou's depiction & description.

My inspiration comes from a book named Métatrou - An XVIIIe century reedition from a French fifteenth-century printed book. My scenes illustrate these stories of bastards during the Italian Wars in 1515.

My technique copies the Renaissance art and shows painted and engraved people of that time at full scale. The proportions of my paintings are often related to Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, i.e. 7 by 4 feet.

My art studies were done at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg (France) where I graduated in 1997. I now live in the United States where I opened my first artist studio in 2020. Welcome in my world!
